I have served the students and community of Albany County School District #1 since 2018, and I ask that you vote to re-elect me in 2022. There is much more to do.
During my tenure, I have:
-
Worked to ensure that ALL Albany County students have access to a quality education, no matter their background, ability, or path in life.
-
Supported our teachers and staff, because I recognize the critical work they do, see the challenges they face in the classroom, and understand how difficult it is to attract and retain excellent professionals for our district.
-
Spearheaded innovative learning initiatives, like partnering with the Pilot Hill Project to create a place-based science program, and advocating for an outdoor learning space at the new Slade Elementary School.
-
Volunteered to represent the school board on community projects like the Albany County Juvenile Justice Task Force and the Laramie Ad Hoc Working Group for Police and Community.
-
Made hard decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic aimed at keeping our community healthy, our schools open, and our students learning.
During my next four years, I plan to:
-
Reevaluate our civics curriculum, so that all students graduate from ACSD1 schools with the tools they need to meaningfully participate in public life and government.
-
Promote career and technical education alongside college-readiness, so that graduates can choose to pursue higher education or fulfilling careers in the trades.
-
Support research-based literacy programs that enable all students to read and write with proficiency by third grade.
-
Address students’ mental health challenges, stop bullying, and do all we can to prevent teen suicide. This includes enforcing policies that confront bigotry and hate.
-
Engage the broader Albany County community in the process of educating our children.
-
Continue to uphold our values of educational excellence, as well as respect and responsibility on the school board.
